接受面试的申请人特别注意下列事项:
　　 1．拉近与面试官之间的距离。谈话时，眼睛要直视对方，但不可瞪视。目光游移不定会影响面试官对你的信赖。而瞪视的对抗意味则相当重。注意对方的表情与反应。适时微笑或点头，表示自己充分了解他的谈话内容。如果没注意到这些细节，面试官会认为你对于他的谈话内容不甚了解。
　　 2．装束要合宜。穿着符合自己期望的装束（并不一定得是真正的你）。你的装束是尊重面试和面试官的指标。
　　 3．准备两份履历表。一份给自己，一份给面试官参考。给自己的一份是用来提示自己各项成就或经历的细节。另外准备一份则是因为面试官不一定会将你的履历表带在身上。
　　 4．表现专业。如果你有名片，请在和面试官握手之后，递出你的名片。记得告诉面试官自己名字的正确念法，因为面试官多半希望能将你的名字念对。如果矫正了两次以后，还不全然正确，记得就此打住。不断矫正会造成面试官的困窘和困扰。如果可以，以英文解释你的名字的字义。有了字义，面试官很容易便可以记得你的名字了。
接受电话面试的申请人，请特别注意下列可以帮助你准备面试的注意事项。
　　 1．准备用于面试的大纲。大纲应当简短、采条列方式而非完整的句子。写大纲能让自己一目了然，帮助自己快速的记起并组织答案。电话面试时参考“自传”文稿资料只会徒增自己的困扰而已，因为要在一大篇文章中很快的找到答案简直是难如登天。以下为理想的大纲范例：
问：Why are you interested in applying to Colombia Business School? 你为何希望进入Columbia Business School就读？
答：1）Location,New York-financial,commercial capital of world地点：纽约-世界金融、商业中心
2）Reputation,excellent-top ranking among business schools 声誉：卓越-顶尖商学院
　　 3）Student body,diverse学生多元化
　　 4）Strength sinfinance,proposed field of study财政科系的优势，选取的进修领域
　　 于此大纲范例，上述问题皆以条列的方式作答。
　　 2．透过电话与朋友演练整个面试过程。仿真面试可以让你体验电话面试的过程。请朋友提供意见：你话说的清不清楚？是否说得太快？还是太大声？
　　 3，问题没听清楚，要很有礼貌的请面试官重述一次。你可以长途电话收讯不佳作为第一次没听清楚的借口。要记得，请求面试官说得更清楚一些是正确的做法。如有必要，甚至还可以要求面试官改以其他方式重述他的问题。
　　 4，问清面试官的名字，并确定自己的念法正确。在面试过程中，多称呼对方的名字可以拉进彼此的距离。而且只有对方要求你直呼其名，你才可以称呼他的名字。
　　 5，语调要轻松、自信。透过电话，声音颤抖很容易就可以听出来。声音要有力且有自信。
　　 6，回答问题时要直接，不要拐弯抹角。避免绕这同一个问题打转。交代过应该说的重点以後，应立即进入下个问题。避免让面试官觉得枯燥乏味。
　　 7，不要忘记对面试官表示谢意。最好能在事后寄一封感谢函，并在整个申请过程当中，与该面试官保持联系。
美国学校尤其是高中在收到申请人的书面申请材料后，通常会Email联系申请人，希望约定一个面试时间。申请人可以根据学校的建议，与其约定一个适合自己的时间进行面试，双方必须通过Email确认联系电话、联系人等信息。如果是电话面试，学校建议的时间通常是美国当地时间，这就需要申请人仔细换算成中国时间进行考虑并作出决定。

申请美国高中或大学本科，良好的面试表现，未必确保申请人的录取机会，但是，糟糕的面试表现绝对会降低申请人被录取的几率。申请美国研究生尤其是商科或MBA课程的申请人，出色的面试表现，绝对是让学校考虑录取和给予奖学金的有力砝码。
虽然面试和录取、奖学金等有着利害关系，但是还是希望申请人在面试的时候暂且抛开这些杂念，专注于和面试官的有效沟通，在有限的时间内全面自信地展现自己的个性、经历、兴趣、目标等，用你的闪光点吸引、打动面试官，努力让他对你留下较为深刻的印象。
